Homespun Dresses

Nonna is very gifted with sewing. She made some amazing dresses for Matty, Claira's American Girl doll. Mom- Thank you for having more patience than I do.

Polar Bear Contest!

Claira was dying to swim as soon as the cover came off the Woodway pool. If I remember correctly it had been cloudy all week and the water was freezing. I finally relented and let Claira swim but I told her that I was too old to get into cold water. She just kept going on and on about me getting in but there was no way. She finally decided to ask our neighbor and good friend Micheal to swim with her because in Claira's words, "Micheal, is practically my age!" As you can see from the picture I believe he is or a sucker for sweet Claira!

Birthday's are a BIG deal!

If you have ever wondered why I make such a "BIG" deal about Birthday's it is because my parents always made a "BIG" deal about mine. Nonna always put up a Birthday banner the week of our Birthday, we had a party, our favorite meal, presents etc. Jay likes to say that a parade comes to town in my honor. (We all know he over exaggerates!) I didn't grow up in family with a lot of money but Birthday day was really special! Thank you Mom & Dad for creating wonderful Birthday memories for me. Hopefully our kids we be able to say the same!
Nonna and Poppa's Birthday 2010: Coley5, Madily4, Cody 16, Lila 2, James, Terri, Claira 10 & JT 13.

Proud to be an American...some days.

Chick-fil-A our families favorite fast food place EVER! The funny thing is that we always seem to crave it on Sundays!

16 Years and still counting!

Happy Anniversary Honey!
JT and Claira, you would be glad to know that Dad and I made a commitment to one another to never use the word divorce. We have fallen more and more in love with one another as we have fallen more in love with Jesus. We will keep our covenant of marriage and set the best example we can for your future marriages.

Our last 16 years tells the story of our love and our sacrifice to self. We have both had moments where we were selfish, rude, uncaring etc...but we have always turned to God. When we give him our marriage He does amazing things in our relationship. We become selfless, kind, and caring toward one another. A quote from our friend Lee Epstine, "Marriage doesn't exist to make us HAPPY is exists to make us HOLY."

This year we celebrated early with a wonderful two night and three days together at home....yes we stayed at home! JT and Claira headed of to Grandma and Poppa Jerry's and we celebrated.
Shopping at the Promenade, Bonefish Grill for dinner, an evening walk to watch the sunset, our own bed to sleep in, (which was more romantic than I expected) 45 min. couple's massage at East Meets West, the movie Night and Day, Dinner at P.F. Chang's, Gator Golf and last but not least ice cream at Andy's.

Simple but Sweet...thank you, Honey.
I love you!

Up Close and Personal Pics...

The funny thing about our squash plants is that
we started them from seed not thinking much would happen.
We ended up have 10 squash plants in a 3ftx3ft area! We didn't have the heart to pull them up. The day finally came that we didn't have a choice...we had to yank them out to allow room for them to grow. We still have too many. We have kept 5 plants, most everyone else has 1.

I have planted may different
flowers just for fun!
This is a Marigold just
beginning to open.

Jay's green beans.

So it Begins....

I have been inspired to blog by friends who blog. I really don't need one more thing to do but I haven't been journaling lately and realize that I really miss documenting things that are happening in our life. So, Jay, JT & Claira, this is for you.

I think now is a good time to start since Jay and I will be celebrating 16years of marriage on July 9th!! It will be fun to spend our anniversary looking back over the last year of marriage and see all the fun things we have done together as a family.

So it Begins....

This summer, so far, we have enjoyed spending time with friends, hanging out at the pool and gardening. Jay is especially attached to the carrots and green beans. It is so cute seeing him dig through the green bean bushes "hunting" for dinner. It is a far cry from bow hunting but we know longer live on wooded acreage. (I am proud you have found an outlet, Honey!)

At first, I thought the garden would be a great way for the kids to have some extra responsibility since their chores have decreased but...Jay and I love it so much it isn't work, it is a hobby. Sorry kids, I guess that is why you are stuck cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming.

I am constantly taking pictures of the flowers and veggies. I am in wonder at how God created a little bitty seed to turn into a beautiful flower, it's amazing. I have grown roses and herbs in the past but gardening this summer is different some how. I think it is because we have less to take care of. We have no yard to mow and have cut our living space in half. That leaves lots of time to watch the plants grow. Plus, it is a social affair. It isn't uncommon to see six or eight people standing around the garden at night watering and talking. The sense of community we feel this summer is like nothing we have ever known. I take that back...Whidbey Island...in many ways this feels like our time when we lived in base housing 16 years ago....how time flies.

Honey, we have taken a full circle! What a sense of humor the Lord has.
